This was Bunny's first trip to Evansville, and I probably let her down because I ended up drooling all over Scotty Rorek most of the night, and she was on her own. Scotty and his media partner Wayne Hackler were guests of Tim's, and as usual I developed another crush. Scotty is one of those men you NEED to cuddle. He has personality and energy you don't meet very often. Move over, Tim, you have competition! The entire night and not once did I make it to the Research Room! I didn't even talk to Tim! He wasn't able to make it to dinner, and I started to go up to see him quite a few times, but then something shiny would happen, and BOOM! There's me in the basement. I can't tell you much about what happened everywhere else, and I don't even remember if Tim got anything on MESA. Earlier on in the night I went to the chuildren's reading room, where there had been a Courier Press first time attempt at a Live Stream and Chat. The attempt worked well, TOO well, as it happens, because there were enough people coming on that it was sucking up the bandwidth. I really hope they try agian this year (I mean next year, this being 2008) because it was a great chance for people to see how the investigations in that area go, and to get a look at the library. I don't know if the guest group was able to get any data, I didn't hear from them, but I really hope they got something. It seems, at the end, that it had been a stressful night for them. That can happen, equipment foul ups and things. One year we had a group show up who realised they had left their equipment in someone's garage back home. My personal experience in that has been camera malfunctions (the NON-Janet Jackson kind), video camera with an uncharged battery, Full audio card and non functioning recorder, and lending both cameras to others, so I didn't get any of my own shots. It was a pest of a night. Something that ended up being interesting, though, was that the two people THAT (2007) night, who experienced activity, were women, and both were on their periods. Could be a coincidence, but I wonder how energy changes in that instance. I'd love to try a study on it. REALLY do research in that aspect. I sense men would probably not be gung-ho though. Where was I? Oh, so the CP people interviewed me, that was fun. I think they could have talked to a few other people too. If they come back I'll point them that way.
Bunny was on her own most of the night, and probably stuck pretty close to Donna and Belinda. Chris and I were on our way upstairs (Bunny wanted to show me something) but spotted Scotty down by the water fountain in front of the women's room. Seems he had leaned over to take a drink and a quarter fell from the ceiling. He was alone at the time, and it had happened a few seconds earlier. Interesting. The only time I've seen money fly was when someone (who shall remain nameless, but you KNOW who you are, cheeky!) was flicking pennies and pretending he had no idea what was happening. Scotty doesn't seem the type to lie about something like that. We moved down the hall to where the elevator is (you can see that section via the basement cam at the Willard Library site run by the Courier Press. I will note that none of the cams seem current at the moment, although I suppose it's possible it is still daylight there at 10 pm my time.. I'll send a message along). I just got sidetracked by shiny things - images of "proof" caps on the cams. I can't say any of them are proof, but some are, at the very least, interesting. Anyway... Scotty and I got stuck into the area outside the elevator. I was getting what has become my feeling when someone is there: a very icy cold on my forearms and hands. The feeling doesn't bother me, in fact I feel honoured. I have had temperature readings taken on the surface of my skin when this happens and there is a drop of between 3-4 degerees F. The feeling can disappear suddenly, and the sking temp will jump back to normal. We checked for drafts (just in case), but the door didn't have any - although the cold metal did feel the temerature that I register (I was [pretty far from it anyway). The elevator made a "whoosh" of air when it came down, but the air was warm. I was also blocked by April's boyfriend, so he would have felt it as well. April is Snowy's daughter. Scotty had been feeling the presence of someone there as well. April was taken a little aback by some energy in the area. She was very emotional, and had a little trouble coping. She seems to be developing sensitive abilities. One of the previous years she was "hugged from behind" by someone as she lay on the bench on the stairs. I have decided to have her stay away from the overnight this year. I want her there, but if she is getting this, then she needs to take some time to learn how to deal with it. I don't want her to be afraid. We tried dowsing rods in the area and got a lot of energy. From other years you will know of the little boy we call Billy. We have no actual visual proof of Billy with the exception of the table tapping answers, and the MESA registering a marked peak when "Billy" was asked to do something to make it do that. This was witnessed by several people including me, John, a MESA member named George, Linda, and Linda's son. I don't remember if there was anyone else. Anyway, Billy - whether he is real or not - has become the darling of the library for us. We do follow the Grey Lady, of course, but Billy seems to come in more readily. Connie, one of MESA's crew took some video. Unfortunately the best bit was destroyed (not so much "destroyed" as not recorded), but there is still a little of what went on. I have yet to check my own video and audio, primarily because it is still 2008 and I haven't felt ashamed about it yet... I might soon, though. I have a copy of the footage Connie did get, so I will try to make a still or two to share with everyone. We ended up with a large-ish group of people watching us in the end. Even Greg came down to watch. One of the things that came out of the rods (note these are rods, so we are not calling this scientific proof - take the info or leave it) was that the reason Billy doesn't like to come around Greg is that Greg reminds him of his father. Apparently Billy's father was abusive. This makes sense, I suppose, we always thought it was because Greg really didn't believe that "Billy" was there, but it turns out it's just because he's mean! Hahahahah... I'm not sure what else we have from that night, but I'm sure it will come out eventually.
On Sunday we all met for lunch at The Olive Garden. My treat. Not going to do that too often! It was a nice visit. Connie joined us and Donna's sister, Marcie showed, as did Kelley. After lunch we went to the cemetery. Oak Hill is so lovely, and we try to go every year for a walk around and a photo with the CARPENTER family headstone.
So, that's the trip in a nuttish shell. I hope 2009 is as fun or more-so.
