| 2009 Trip Plans |
| Preparation for this trip begins 5 weeks earlier with various duties including phone calls and email back-and-forths as well as equipment checks and such. I'd like to thanks Snowy, Donna and Chris for doing what they do to help every year. Thanks you three, I love you all. OK, now that the soppy stuff is out of the way, we can get down to business: Chris, Bunny, Lane, and I will arrive sometime Friday night, and then go find food, getting a chance to meet up with Snowy while we do so. Saturday will see the arrival of the rest of the people. We are staying at Days Inn East, which began under new management last year. 4819 Tecumseh Lane/I-164 South Green River Rd/Loyde Exp Evansville, IN 47715 US (812) 473-7944? We will meet up with people during the day on Saturday, but we rarely have an executable plan in place. People arrive at various times and it makes a group outing a bit of a hit-and-miss. Generally we go for lunch, but we hjave also, in the past, gone shopping, and to New Harmony (Snowy is a descendant of Mr Rapp), which is a lovely collection of old buildings from the original settlement. There will be something, but it will be, shall we say, a bit of a surprise right now. I'll figure it out and make an announcement closer to the date. Dinner will be at the Crazy Buffet: 701 N Burkhardt Rd Evansville, IN 47715-7299, United States (812) 437-8833 If you are in the area and would like to join us for dinner please email me at this address. We need to know the numbers of people we are expecting. Snowy will be calling in the reservations, probably some time next week. We have had our meal at Crazy Buffet since 2006. The food is good and we get a whole room to ourselves. As of this writing, I don't know the price per person for a Saturday meal, but I'll post it when the information becomes available. The food is a mix of North American and Chinese cuisine, they have a Mongolian grill too. Mmmmm. Crab legs on Saturdays. They close at 9:00 we'll probably go 7:30. After dinner we will go back to the room and gather our stuff, and try to be over at the library by 11:00. It's pretty easy to get there, right along the Lloyd Expressway. This year the Willard Library overnight will be on October 24th. We will go into the building approximately 11pm local time, and leave just a few minutes before Greg falls over from sleep deprivation. The time goes by very quickly, so we need to get in there and do our thing. Greg gives a tour to anyone who would like one. He gives a very good tour, recounting experiences people have had in the library. Tim will set up his MESA equipment in the Bayard Room (a room off the upstairs Research Room), and the door will be closed. Tim samples for about an hour and then has to take the equipment down again. The room should be ready between 1:00 and 1:30, but no guarantees. Meantime, the guest groups may want to set up their own equipment (or not, depending on how they work), and I will try to find out wat they will need. IF you would like to set up a camera or something in the Bayard Room while Tim is running MESA please email me and I will pass it along to Tim. This room has had activity before, and is an interesting place to take readings. Who is going? As of this writing we have the following people coming with our group: What to take The library can get warm and dry (at least to me) so I take a lot of water with me. Take a snack if you think you will feel peckish, and it's possible others will bring munchies as well. Take a camera, a recorder (audio and video), some note paper, a watch, divining/dowsing rods, tarot cards, pendulums, other recorders, emf readers, thermometers, etc. Please do not bring a Ouija Board, I don't mind them, but others do, so it's best not to make people uncomfortable. Also DO NOT bring your cel phone into the building. I understand that you have a social life, but the phones can mess with the equipment. If it's emergency contact, please email me and we will see about an alternative for you. Perhaps the library phone system can be used.. If you have any questions please email me at this email address. |
