| Not too long ago I was made aware of a wonderful site called "The Haunted Diary". The idea is that a young woman lives in what she believes to be a haunted house. Her mother ALSO has experienced hauntings in her own home. The Diary is a work in progress. Begun in early January of 2002, it has just scratched the surface of where it can go. For those of you who are familiar with the OTHER (first) "Haunted Diary" site that was a popular visit for some a few months back and was EXPOSED, (then admitted to be a hoax ~ sad that someone needed that much attention), allow me to say that THIS Haunted Diary is NOT the same, and promises to be a fun ride in the future. Check out the site for a Sunday chat, pictures, stories, and interesting ideas. MY favorite thing about this site...aside from all the obvious, is that Gen cares enough to actually add things often. THAT's what makes us all want to come back for more! One of the very cool things about this site is that it gives you perspectives from two women's points of view. First you have Gen, the daughter, who lives in a duplex with her boyfrind, and then you have her mom Gloria who lives 300 miles away. Both houses are haunted, and both women give accounts of their experiences on the site. In certain instances, both give accounts of the same events. Gloria has some very interesting stories about her time in her house. These accounts are listed at the bottom of her page and can be clicked on to read the details. Just one of the many intriguing tales I read was an incident where Gloria was at her computer typing, when she felt a slap on her hand. At first she could see no mark, but afterward she turned on a brighter lamp and saw a reddish pink area on her skin where she had felt the slap. This was the first time an unseen entity had slapped her. Gloria has many more stories up her sleeve for us....it's just a matter of time. Gloria has a lot of stories about her bedroom, now the centre of most of the paranormal activity in her house. She no longer sleeps there as it has become too much for her. The activity in her room began after Gen moved out. I asked her if she could hazard a guess as to why her room has now become the "target" for the activity. She guesses that it wants to make sure it is being noticed. It has been successful. All the events are progressively worsening in severity and in frequency. At first she blamed her imagination, and the usual logical explanations for the activity. She even hired an electrician to check the wiring. But as things progressed she realized there was more to it than that. Gloria has had a series of operations which have left her reasonably immobile on her own, having to rely on a wheelchair. She is becoming concerned for her safety as the activity increase has become more physical with the slap, and the bag moving across the kitchen floor. Gloria feels that the entity or entities have been taking advantage of her since here more recent health difficulties. As soon as her health permits, she would like to have a priest come and bless the house. She has researched the house history and believes "it just has to be one of the 3 former people that lived here before me (the original old man, his wife, and the school teacher)... I wonder sometimes if it is the spirit of the last owner of this house.. the teacher since I got a slap on the wrist (as probably they used to do in her days?) I know this sounds strange, but I often think I wonder if she's even jealous (if spirits so become?) that I've had a family and she never did? That slap on the wrist though, surely has me stumped as I don't know why that teacher? spirit would do that to me for just sitting typing an email? Only other signs I have had of her before was every fall (around her death time, I suspect) the scent of flowers that would last in this house for a week. I don't have a garden and neither do any of my neighbors, but every year the fragrance comes and lasts for a week." Gloria admits that the taecher spirit and her possible jealousy are just a thought. But I find the possibility intriguing. She has few friends who take her claims seriously, as is common in this type of thing. One friend, while seeing numerous examples of phenomena in her house, will still try to pass them off as natural ocurrances. Another has the spirit of a little girl in his home, so he is more sympthetic to her plight. Genevieve has had her own fair share of paranormal experiences. She also lived in the house Gloria now occupies. She tells of her experiences on the Haunted Diary site. Her boyfriend, Jason, owns the duplex in which she now lives. He hasn't had an opportunity to research the backgroundof the house yet. The couple plans to move to the now uninhabited sideof the duplex in the near future. The side they are in for the time being is also equipped with one quietly benevolent spirit, who makes himself known on rare occasions by making "tinking" sounds on a glass in the bedroom. The other side will be the site for the soon to be installed GHOST CAM which is eagerly awaited by many Haunted Diary Fans (Me included). This is where the majority of activity is experienced. As far as she has seen to this point, while she doesn't feel the individual personalities of the entities, Gen doesn't find any malevolence in "TheHaunted Side". While she describes Jason as not being quite as receptive to the entities out there, she does concede that he is coming around to an interest in the paranormal, good thing if he's going to be living in this new side! As to whether or not they will delve into the origins of their house guests, Gen says "We'll see I guess, I haven't exactly had a chance to probe yet. I guess it depends on how bad they want to be noticed as well, haha." well I can't wait, myself. |
